By DaChairman - 4/21/2008 Detroit Pershing big man Derrick Nix gave a verbal commitment to MichiganState coach
Tom Izzo on Monday afternoon, giving
the Spartans their second member in the Class of 2009. Nix had a solid year for
a talented Doughboys team that made to the state championship, but he has since
elevated his game on the national AAU circuit with The Family and he became a “must
get” recruit for MSU.

of the state’s top prospects have descended on the CapitalCity
this weekend for the annual Motown Showdown, which moved from the Detroit
area to Lansing
for the first time this year. Click through for news and notes including a
progress report on Dion Sims, who
suffered an injury in a car accident on the way to the tournament. Also, the
state’s top two juniors-to-be – Keith
Appling and Trey Zeigler –
squared off in an entertaining battle Saturday night.
